Overview#

VOSS Automate provides support to consolidate and manage your full number inventory across your estate. It can support your environment across various dial plan designs and whether you are using E164 dial plans vs traditional internal numbers mapped to external numbers.

The platform provides two main inventory capabilities:

  • Number Inventory - this is the main inventory in the system and contains all the numbers that are assigned to devices, users, and services. While it is called internal inventory, it can include extensions (in traditional dial plans or for internal only services) or full E164 numbers if those are assigned directly to users, devices, and services.

  • E164 Inventory and Associations - the purpose of this inventory is to provide E164 numbers to map to the number inventory entries if they are internal only numbers as required for traditional internal- or external number dial plans. This is where internal numbers are assigned to devices and then mapped to external numbers for external access; and require the loading of appropriate transformations and other dial plan elements to operate.

    The association workflow when mapping E164 numbers to number inventory instances work with dial plan schemas or your own dial plan (dial plan tools). If E164 numbers are assigned directly to users, devices and services, then these are added directly in the number inventory and this E164 inventory and associations functionality is not required (and often hidden in the menus).

Once the numbers are loaded in the system, then the inventory details are incorporated into various features throughout the system - providing options for users to select from as well as automatically tracking the status of the numbers. The system also includes the ability to reconcile (audit) the inventory against currently configured services in the event that changes are made outside the system - to ensure the inventory stays up to date. This further ensures accuracy and reduces errors in number selection as well as manual reconciliation - to keep an up-to-date view.
