Quick Add Webex Device#
Overview#
You can add Webex App ATA, MPP, and Wi-Fi devices using Quick Add Webex Device. This tool uses a configuration template with pre-configured settings to add these devices and associate them with users and existing or new workspaces.
Note
For the selected Person on the GUI, only users with numbers and pre-provisioned with a Webex Pro license are available.
Quick Add Webex Device can also be used to replace an existing device.

Multi-line support#
Quick Add Webex Device supports provisioning multiple lines on a single device.
To add additional lines in the Quick Add Webex Device form, select the Add additional lines checkbox. This enables input fields for defining one additional line.
When adding a device, you can define:
A primary line (line 1)
One additional line
Note
Quick Add Webex Device currently supports adding only one additional line during provisioning (a maximum of two lines in total: the primary line and one additional line).
To configure more lines, you must first create the device and then use the Webex Devices page to assign additional lines, if supported by the device model.
The number of supported lines depends on the device’s available ports or line key buttons.
Each line is mapped to a specific port on the device:
Port 1 is used for the primary line
Additional ports (for example, port 2, port 3, and so on) are used for additional lines
When an additional line is configured during provisioning, it is assigned to the next available port (typically port 2).
Lines are applied as device configuration members, where each member represents a line associated with the device.
Each configured line can be associated with:
A user (person)
A workspace
The system automatically determines the correct association based on the input provided during Quick Add.
Line assignment and device configuration#
During Quick Add, all line configuration is applied through the device configuration model.
Each line is represented as a device configuration member that includes:
The port (line position)
The associated user or workspace
The phone number or extension
Line assignment is based on port ordering rather than explicit line type values.
Note
Line type is not validated during provisioning and does not control line behavior. Line behavior is determined by device configuration members and their assigned ports.
Single-line vs multi-line devices#
Devices can be configured with a single line or multiple lines:
Single-line devices:
Only the primary line (port 1) is configured
Multi-line devices:
Additional lines are configured on subsequent ports
Each additional line is treated as a separate member in the device configuration
The number of supported lines depends on the device capabilities.
Note
Multi-line support depends on the capabilities of the selected device model. Devices that support multiple line ports or line keys can be provisioned with multiple lines.
Device configuration lifecycle#
When using Quick Add Webex Device, device configuration (including line assignments) is managed automatically:
When a device is added, the configuration and all defined lines are created and applied
When a device is updated or replaced, the configuration is updated accordingly
When a device is deleted, the configuration is removed
This ensures that line assignments remain consistent throughout the device lifecycle and prevents orphaned configuration.
Dynamic configuration behavior during Quick Add#
Some Webex devices use a dynamic configuration model. When adding these devices using Quick Add, configuration may be shown as key-value pairs instead of a fixed set of device fields.
For Webex devices that use dynamic configuration:
Configuration settings may be entered as key-value pairs
Some values are filled in automatically by the system
Some fields may be read-only or not shown at all
The available fields depend on the device type
This is expected behavior. Webex devices that use the legacy configuration model may show additional, predefined configuration fields during Quick Add.
Note
Key-value settings are used for Webex devices that support dynamic configuration. If you see fewer fields or fields that cannot be edited, those values are managed by the system.
For devices using dynamic configuration, multi-line assignments are still supported. Line configuration follows the same port-based assignment behavior, while device-specific settings continue to follow the key-value model.
