Release Overview

These are the official release notes for:

Release 19.3.3 is the second incremental update of the year for the 19.x release series. The release mainly includes defect fixes and a few key enhancements.

Some highlights from the 19.3.3 release include:

  • New features:
    • Alternative ‘Best Practice’ Provider and Customer menu layouts for Provider deployments.
    • Optional and modifiable Auto Attendant pilot. Transfer Call To “Extension or URI” option under Transfer Rules has also been exposed.
    • Extension Mobility Management in both Advanced- and Business Admin Portals.
  • Usability and Operational Enhancements:
    • Addition of latest Cisco Phone models to Device Types list for Entitlement.
    • Addition of Dial Plan Multi-cluster push support to push and remove a dial plan to/from multiple Unified CM clusters in a single step.
    • Softkey Template field on Extension Mobility tab and Phone Status and IP Address for Subscriber has been exposed.
    • Detail field for data sync transactions has been improved to help identify what is being imported
    • Addition of 60 reference Configuration Templates to use as examples for the Quick Add Subscriber feature.
  • Performance Improvements:
    • The backup mechanism has been updated to run off secondary unified nodes in order to further distribute load across the VOSS-4-UC cluster.
    • Ability to configure SDE to run off the secondary unified node to remove background task load from the primary unified node.

Features: Detail

Core Software

  • EKB-3413: Site JSON file (SDE Extract) Does Not Populate all Fields for Linked Sites. In some instances, the Site report generated blank values for the “external_id” and “extended_name” fields in the output file. This has been fixed by adding an additional data model check.
  • EKB-4223: Set Detail field for pseudo transactions created during data sync. The detail field of sub-transaction lines in data sync transactions will now be more useful in identifying which model instance is being imported.
  • EKB-5216: Configure gunicorn to recycle workers. Ensure external API clients mutation operations utilises best practices when submitting transactions. Transactions should be executed asynchronously to avoid long running open HTTP requests.
  • EKB-5322: License audit report software version header updates. The Software Version header now reflects the system’s release version and a new header, Platform Version, has been added which reflects the system’s platform version.
  • EKB-5378: Fix CUCM App User fields with overrides. Fixes an issue where digestCredentials are displayed in clear text and drop-down choices for Associated Devices and CTI Controlled Profiles are incorrect.
  • EKB-5431: Set the device limit to 10 for a licensed user. If a user has more than 10 devices associated to them, then for each increment of 10 there will be an additional license counted.
  • EKB-5454: Include patch and adaptation log in license audit zip file. The license audit zip file now includes the export of the data/adaptation_log and data/Patch models.
  • EKB-5475: Update SDE to run off secondary unified nodes. To optimise performance, whenever possible run and schedule the data export command from the secondary database server.
  • EKB-5640: Expose Certificate Authority fields for Phones. Exposes the Certificate Authority Proxy Function fields in the SubscriberPhoneMenuItemProvider FDP for relation/SubscriberPhone and Perform a Device Hard Reset if Certificate operation is changed.

  • EKB-4720: Change backups to run off secondary unified nodes. Backups have been moved to first secondary node.

Workflow Templates

  • EKB-2772: Add additional set of sample CFTs for Quick Add Subscriber. Adds an additional set of 60 Configuration Template examples which are primarily aimed for use with Quick Add Subscriber. The new CFTs have a prefix name of “PROVIDER-NAME”, admins can clone the required ones to the Provider hierarchy level and replace this prefix with the actual Provider name when making changes to these shipped examples. The Description contains the date when the CFT was last modified which will indicate when Admins should review these sample CFTs for any changes after upgrading to a new VOSS-4-UC version.
  • EKB-4121: Expose SoftKeyTemplate field on Extension Mobility tab and Phone Status and IP Address for Subscriber. Exposes Softkey Template field on Extension Mobility tab as well as Phone Status and IP Address when viewing a Subscriber. A single FDP, SubscriberAdvancedDefault, has been modified.
  • EKB-4570: Generic DialPlan: Add DialPlan MultiCluster push Support. Adds the ability to Push and Remove a Dial Plan to/from multiple Unified CM Clusters in a single step. A new View has been added which needs to be added to the existing Menu Layout and Access Profiles: view/DP_MultiCluster_Maintenance_VIEW
  • EKB-5174: Add Macros to replace non-ASCII characters for First and Last Name for Quick Add Subscriber. Adds the following new Macros, which are primarily aimed for use within Quick Add Subscriber Configuration Templates, which return the First Name and Last Name in different combinations of length and replace non-ascii characters with ascii ones. If the combination of First Name and Last Name exceeds the specified length then only the first character of the First Name is returned with the full Last Name, and the combined output is then trimmed to the specified length.

  • EKB-5972: Update Hierarchy_Delete_CUCM Model Type list to include Advertised Patterns. Updates the Model Type List Hierarchy_Delete_CUCM used for Site Delete, to include Advertised Patterns.
  • VOSS-618: Add Enhanced Provider and Customer Menu set for Provider Deployments. Added alternative ‘Best Practice’ Provider and Customer menus for Provider deployments.
  • VOSS-719: Allow Auto Attendant pilot number to be modifiable and optional. Pilot Number on Auto Attendant (System Call Handler) is now optional and modifiable. Also exposed the Transfer Call To “Extension or URI” option under Transfer Rules.

Business Admin Portal

  • VOSS-687: Provide Extension Mobility Management in BAP Portal. Adds a new menu item for managing Extension Mobility (Device Profile) for Business Admin Portal and Admin Portal.

Defects Fixed: Detail

Admin GUI

  • EKB-4663: List View selections are not clearing beyond export/transactions. Fixes an issue where list view selections in Admin GUI are persisted across export and list-based transactions, resulting in inadvertent actions being performed on previously selected rows. This behaviour has been changed to clear list view selections upon export and performing list-based transactions. Note that list view selections are persisted when paging across multiple pages prior to exporting or performing transactions.

Self-service

  • EKB-5567: A Self-service user cannot add SMS device - schema error. Fixes an issue where adding SMS notification device from Self-service fails if the Customer has multiple Unity Connection devices.

Core Software

  • EKB-2691: Exclude LicensedUser model from default CUCM Import. Some license-related models will now be excluded from CUCM and CUC imports by default. CUCM: LicensedUser, LicensingResourceUsage, HcsLicense CUC: LicenseStatus, TenantUserLicense, UserLicense
  • EKB-3166: When a CUCM Import is initiated from a Schedule there is no request user being passed into the input context. Fixes an issue where scheduled syncs were failing due to missing ‘request_user’ details, which were introduced in release version 10.6.3.
  • EKB-3458: Regions Codec drop down list needs to include G.722 Should be the same as CUCM drop down list. Add G.722 to G.711 in dropdown as both consume 64k bandwidth.
  • EKB-3868: Disable support for limit=0 queries on the API. Fixes an issue where API list calls with a limit set to ‘0’ were incorrectly supported, instead of having a limit set between 1 - 2000.
  • EKB-3963: SSO authentication broken when IDP signs assertion while the entire SAML responses is unsigned. Fixes an issue when IDP signs assertion while the entire SAML responses is unsigned, resulting in broken SSO authentication.
  • EKB-3985: Subscriber data summary not updated. Fixes an issue where changing the device name on a phone caused the phone to disappear from the Subscriber list page.
  • EKB-4104: Transactions getting queued due to Device Concurrency counter. Fixes an issue that caused VOSS-4-UC transactions to get queued or to not complete.
  • EKB-4126: BulkLoading should support specifying the Network Device List in Bkey format in addition to friendly name. Network Device List can be specified as either friendly name or business key in bulk loader.
  • EKB-4140: Exclude device/cuc/SubscriberDependency model when performing full import of Unity Connection. When performing a full import of Unity Connection the device/cuc/SubscriberDependency model will no longer be imported.
  • EKB-4142: process_subscriber_line_data function doesn’t handle devices with no lines. Fixes an issue where no lines are assigned to either phone, device profile or remote destination profile and an update of the associated subscriber is performed.
  • EKB-4786: CSRF failure upon first modify operation after administrator login in via SSO. Fixes an issue where a CSRF error is returned on the first modification transaction upon SSO login on the Admin GUI.
  • EKB-5043: Choices endpoint for traversal down causes long running query. This fix improves performance of certain choices dropdowns where choices are fetched from the API of options down the hierarchy, e.g. User Management -> Move Users -> Move user by username
  • EKB-5120: License audit error on 19.3.1. Fixes an issue where a phone or user has a parent hierarchy record in an unexpected format. Added functionality to handle this situation correctly.
  • EKB-5146: Manual runs of license audit do not complete (without screen session). The following commands can now only be executed instead a screen session: voss export type <args> voss export group <args> voss subscriber_data_export
  • EKB-5147: License audit report on version 18.1 shows “host-not-found” in filename. An additional step has been added to resolve the hostname when the license report is not run from a container.
  • EKB-5195: Add CUC override for NewMessageSortOrder for Voicemail User. Fixes an issue where a Voicemail Account’s New Message Sort Order field displays as a numerical id, 1 or 2, instead of text values of “Newest first” or “Oldest first”.
  • EKB-5200: List view sorting by hierarchy causes large memory consumption at scale. This fix resolves large memory consumption in the voss-wsgi service when sorting on hierarchy in the list view for resources at scale. The sorting behavior has been corrected to sort by Located At and not hierarchy path.
  • EKB-5231: Purge hierarchy Macro function utilizes unacceptable query. This fix improves the database queries used to load the resource to be removed.
  • EKB-5324: Update Call Manager fails when Smart Account is registered on HCMF. Fixes an issue where modifying a Unified CM 12.5 fails with HCMF virtual account error if Unified CM is registered with a Smart Account.
  • EKB-5325: Jabber cannot be added to UCCX RMCM APP User. Fixes an issue where updating or adding AppUser devices with device Profile(s) that included single quote characters resulted in a CUCM AXL error.
  • EKB-5389: Corporate Directory doesn’t work for shared cluster customers. Fixes an issue where all customers data was listed in the Corp Directory search in Phone Services. Scoping changed to only list current customer data.
  • EKB-5596: Error during modification of UCCX Team. Fixes an issue where saving uccx/Team was not working on all versions of UCCX 12.5.
  • EKB-5671: Add Refresh step for AppUser for Add Agent Line to avoid Device overwrite if Cache is not up to date. Adds a Refresh step to update the Line and ApplicationUser when adding AgentLine configuration to avoid overwrite if cache is not up to date with changes made on the Unified CM.
  • EKB-5698: After creating a Directed Call Park on a Device Profile it does not display. Directed Call Parks not work on Device Profiles.
  • EKB-5930: Prevent Model Profile type of Device Profiles from being imported in device/cucm/DeviceProfile. Fixes an issue where DeviceProfileDefault instances are being listed under DeviceProfile instances for some Unified VM versions, which inflates the number of Extension Mobility users.
  • EKB-6033: Extension Mobility - Unable to delete EM profile with a single quote character in the name. Fixes an issue where deleting an Extension Mobility profile with single quote(s) results in a failed transaction.

Platform

  • EKB-3789: Provisioning fails when removing a node from the cluster Fixes an issue where provisioning fails when removing a node from a cluster.
  • EKB-3853: Upgrading with the ISO image fails when an active PID is used by the upgrade that was previously used in an upgrade. Fixes an issue where the platform upgrade intermittently fails when some configuration values are in an inconsistent state.
  • EKB-4033: Incorrect error “The last backup was more than 2 days ago” displayed when a backup done within the past 2 days. Fixes an issue where an incorrect error “The last backup was more than 2 days ago” was displayed, even when a backup had been done within the past 2 days.
  • EKB-4115: Hourly SNMP Trap WARNING: High CPU usage. Removes the hourly high CPU SNMP trap
  • EKB-5083: Ubuntu Multiple Vulnerabilities. Upgraded kernel to remove possibility of local exploits using CVE-2020-8834, CVE-2020-8992 or CVE-2019-19046
  • EKB-5188: The stunnel4 daemon uses all available memory. The version of the package used for encrypting cluster comms has a memory leak in Ubuntu 16.04. This fix installs an updated version of the package to resolve the memory leak.
  • EKB-5506: Delta bundle installation shows version number as 0.1.0. Fixes an issue where the Delta bundle installation was showing an unrecognised software version. It now shows the software version as 1.0.0.
  • EKB-5572: Privilege escalation on command line interface. Fixes an issue whereby the user could gain elevated privileges to the system via the command line interface. These could potentially be used to cause breakage.
  • EKB-6004: Arbiter cannot start after DR failover. Fixes an issue where in a fail-over scenario when losing a unified node and replacing it as per our documented process, the database configuration would show an unhealthy state and / or an unknown storage engine type for the primary arbiter.

Workflow Templates

  • EKB-2866: Changing password of enduser account (user type:CUCM local) via VOSS-4-UC:HcsUserREL will update the password locally in VOSS-4-UC but not in CUCM, CUC, or Webex. Fixes an issue where the user password updates, when done via User Management, was not also updating the user passwords on Call Manager, Unity, or WebEx (in other words those end users were unable to log into those respective UC-app end-user interfaces with the new/updated password).
  • EKB-3287: Delete Customer Fails on Large Cluster “Failed to remove list of models from collection RESOURCE”. Fixes an issue where deleting a hierarchy node on a large scale fails with a DB error.
  • EKB-3531: Import UCCX fails due to presence of Chat and Email Queues. Fixes an issue where importing Cisco Unified Contact Center Express fails if a Chat or Email Contact Service Queue exists on UCCX.
  • EKB-3602: Updating the Use Corporate Email Address and Email Address value on Unified Messaging Account does not take effect. Fixes an issue where updating “Use Corporate Email Address” and “Email Address” fields for Unified Messaging Account did not take effect.
  • EKB-3644: “To” field should be mandatory when adding SMS Notification Device. Fixes an issue where the “To” field was not marked as mandatory for SMS Type Notifications.
  • EKB-3701: Delete Subscriber fails if ldapDirectoryName field on CUCM User does not match the value in the VOSS-4-UC cache. Fixes an issue where Delete Subscriber fails if the LDAP Directory value on the Unified CM user has changed since the last import, or no longer exists.
  • EKB-3900: Alerting name Common-Line-Settings gets cleared when associating the line to a device. Fixes an issue where Alerting name Common-Line-Settings were getting cleared when associating the line to a device.
  • EKB-3923: Add Line Delete functionality for cases where Lines are removed from Devices. Enhances the “Line Delete Preferences” feature to cover scenarios where Lines are removed from devices(Phones, Device Profiles, Remote Destination Profiles, CTI Route Points) previous functionality only catered for scenarios where the devices were deleted.
  • EKB-4013: Updating data/DataSync instance does not update schedule that makes use of the DS resource being changed. Fixes an issue where Schedules were not maintained to have their links updated whenever the names of their linked DataSyncs were updated.
  • EKB-4218: Phone Reset CFT needs to specify isHardReset == True otherwise phone is only Restarted. Fixes an issue where a Phone does not do a full Reset when selecting the Reset action.
  • EKB-4227: AddQuickSubscriberEmail PWF does not cater for 2 or more lines. Fixes an issue where only one line was sent in the email notification. All lines are now listed in the email.
  • EKB-4343: Add Site page on Enterprise deployments is missing the “Auto Push Users to CUCM” checkbox. Fixes an issue where the “Add Site” page on Enterprise deployments was missing the “Auto Push Users to CUCM” check box.
  • EKB-4566: Generic DialPlan: Update CFT DIAL-PLAN-DP-CaE-Remove to use fn.unset for MediaResourceListName. Fixes an issue where Media Resource Group List was not removed from Device Pool when removing Dial Plan from Unified CM 12.5.x
  • EKB-4677: Adding Hunt Group fails if Hunt List or Line Group is referenced by an existing Hunt Group. Fixes an issue where Adding a Hunt Group fails if the Hunt List or Line Group already exists.
  • EKB-4753: Network Device List FDP is missing UCCX for Enterprise Deployments. Fixes an issue where Cisco Unified Contact Center Express was not exposed in the default Field Display Policy for Network Device Lists on Enterprise deployment types.
  • EKB-4761: Deleting contents of Subscriber “Department” field does not remove it from CUCXN. Fixes an issue where the Department field is not removed from Unity Connection when updating a Subscriber.
  • EKB-5018: Phone Services dropdown on Phones and Device Profile is not Cluster specific. Fixes an issue where the Services drop-down for Phones and Extension Mobility is not Unified CM Cluster specific. The drop-down will now only show services which reside on the same Unified CM as the selected Phone or Extension Mobility.
  • EKB-5268: Auto Attendant: Manage Greeting Files menu filter for .wav files should ignore case. Updates the fixed filter, on Manage Greeting Files menu entry, for files which end in .wav to be case insensitive.
  • EKB-5270: Deleting Provider on Decoupled or Enterprise platform won’t allow a provider to be added back. This fixes an issue where a Provider cannot be re-added back after it’s been deleted in decoupled or enterprise builds.
  • EKB-5324: Update Call Manager fails when Smart Account is registered on HCMF. Fixes an issue where modifying a Unified CM 12.5 fails with HCMF virtual account error if Unified CM is registered with a Smart Account.
  • EKB-5413: Adding CTI Route Point fails if CUCM Line instance does not exist. Fixes an issue where adding of CTI Route Point fails if the device/cucm/Line instance selected does not exist.
  • EKB-5497: When Subscribers-with-LDAP-Enabled-Accounts in Unity are provisioned with voicemail with view/QuickSubscriber, the CUC-User account is not loaded with SDD Timezone and Language settings. Fixes an issue where an LDAP integrated voicemail user added via Quick Add Subscriber does not get Language and TimeZone set as per Site Defaults.
  • EKB-5526: Global Settings: Flow Though Provisioning should not be exposed in the default FDP. Removes the Flow Through Provisioning tab from the default Global Settings field display policy.
  • EKB-5534: The input Language and TimeZone are ignored when adding LDAP enabled Voicemail from relation/Voicemail. Fixes an issue where the input Language and TimeZone were ignored when adding LDAP enabled Voicemail from relation/Voicemail.
  • EKB-5535: Email Address value is being cleared when modifying Voicemail User from relation/Voicemail. Fixes an issue where the Email Address is cleared when selecting an existing Voicemail User.
  • EKB-5539: The input Language and TimeZone are ignored when adding LDAP enabled Voicemail from relation/Subscriber. Fixes an issue where the input Language and TimeZone were ignored when adding LDAP enabled Voicemail from relation/Subscriber.
  • EKB-5631: Lines are not being Deleted on import when GS_HcsDeleteCucmUserDs_PWF is run to remove Phone and Device Profile. Fixes an issue where CUCM Lines are not deleted when importing Phones, Device Profiles, Remote Destination Profiles and CTI Route Points when Line Delete Preferences are enabled. Existing Data Syncs will need to be updated with the required Post Execution steps for Delete and Update using either LineDeletion_PhoneDataSync_PWF or LineDeletion_after_DeviceUpdate_PWF Workflows. A new workflow, GS_HcsDeleteCucmUserDs_PWF, has been added which will automate the deletion of a User’s Phone, DeviceProfile and Remote Destination Profile when deleted User changes are imported via Data Sync, this is optional and will need to be added to existing Data Sync as a Post Execution step.
  • EKB-5643: Import of CUCM User fails where workflow Deletes the Device Profile RefreshUccxAgentDevice_On_EMDelete_EVT_PWF. Fixes an issue where deleting Device Profiles or importing Device Profile deletion changes from CUCM fails as the device/cucm/User cannot be found.
  • EKB-5682: Timestamp on internal directory number extra6 to be Melbourne time. Fixes an issue by adding a function to retrieve the current date and time using a specific Time Zone.
  • EKB-5697: CNF sync schedule gets disabled when CUCM device is updated. Fixes an issue where updating a CUCM server disables the CNF schedule and reverts the execution details back to defaults.
  • EKB-5712: Number Cooling - Number field name is missing from the mandatory field popup message. Fixes an issue where the field name for Numbers was not shown in the pop up error message for mandatory field validation.
  • EKB-5764: PBR handling multiple clusters broken. Fixes an issue on Phone Based registration workflow to support multiple clusters.
  • EKB-5872: Generic DialPlan: Add Scoping to Dial Plan Model Lookups in all PWF_DP_Push workflows. Fixes an issue where Dial Plan elements added higher up in the hierarchy were not found when pushing the Dial Plan.
  • EKB-5873: Device Security Profile shows default value when modifying Cisco Dual Mode for iPhone or Android. Fixes an issue where the Device Security Profile for Cisco Dual Mode for iPhone and Android phones shows the default value when modifying the Phone on relation/SubscriberPhone page.
  • EKB-6033: Extension Mobility - Unable to delete EM profile with a single quote character in the name. Fixes an issue where deleting an Extension Mobility profile with single quote(s) results in a failed transaction.

Business Admin Portal

  • EKB-3984: Export does not work when you on the Subscriber Edit page. Fixes an issue where clicking on the Export button on the Subscriber page in the Business Admin Portal did nothing.
  • EKB-5056: List components with simple fields don’t work. Fixes an issue where some list fields in the new Admin and Business Admin portals were not functioning correctly.
  • EKB-5480: Image files missing for Cisco 7832, 8821, 8832, 8832NR, 8865NR phones and others. FIxes an issue by adding missing phone images. If an image doesn’t exist for a phone a default image will be shown.
  • EKB-5647: Browser caching selected hierarchy in the BAP portal when logging out.. Fixes an issue whereby the hierarchy was not being reset upon login.
  • EKB-5700: Adding a Phone with the Subscriber Page in Business Admin Portal keeps failing. Fixes an issue where the phone template field when adding a phone on the BAP Subscriber was not being set. It is now a mandatory field, and auto populated with the first result.
  • EKB-5734: Page is not responding when assigning an Extension Number when Configuring a Phone in BAP. Fixes an issue whereby nested popups were not being correctly closed.
  • EKB-5787: Cannot add any Jabber Device in the Phone Mapping Configuration for BAP. Fixes an issue when trying to add a Cisco Dual Mode for Android phone type to the Phone Mapping Config table.
  • EKB-5788: The Default line filter should not include numbers where Available is set to False when adding Phones or Subscribers. Fixes an issue where the Default line filter, on Adding Subscribers and Phones, included Numbers which were set to Available = False. Only Numbers which have Available = True are now displayed.
